Born and raised in Houston, Hiawatha Johnson is a proud product of Houston ISD, where his journey as a lifelong learner first began. For the past 17 years, he has dedicated his career to education; serving students, families, and teachers with a passion for excellence and equity. Currently, he serves as Teacher Specialist and Magnet Coordinator for Red Elementary School’s STEM Magnet Program, where he supports instructional growth, coordinates innovative STEM initiatives, and helps build pathways for students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. His work is rooted in a commitment to cultivating curiosity, empowering teachers, and ensuring all students have access to engaging, high-quality learning experiences that prepare them for future success.

Mr. Johnson also contributes to the wider school community. He volunteers his time for extracurricular activities, supports school events, and collaborates with colleagues to improve teaching practices. His leadership and teamwork have made him a respected figure among both students and staff. Parents and community members appreciate his dedication, recognizing that his efforts go far beyond the classroom walls.
